My Favorite CC and BB Cream
Myth: If you want coverage, then you buy foundation.
Fact: There are many beneficial types of products for coverage other than foundation.
Somedays, I don’t even know what day of the week it is. I fly here, then there. I sleep in a different bed each night and add one more Uber driver friend to my circle each morning.
Somedays, I just need balance.
Balance.
I am sitting here, staring at that word, and wondering what it really means. What does one look like who lives a life of balance? Do they putz around with a plate on their head and juggle five different spheres of life at once? Is balance the person who gives her energy to others at the same time she reserves enough for yourself?
Balance…
The more I think about it, the more I find that balance for me is defined by what I put in my body and what I choose to put on my body. The food I eat? Juice with a side of pizza. The clothes I love? A little Nordstrom with a Target accessory. The makeup I wear? Medical grade with a shimmer of organic ingredients.
If you know me, you know that I believe in the combination of natural product with medical grade skin care. It is a balance.
Nothing makes me think of natural product more than the company of Lune + Aster. (This is not a sponsored post-I truly love and believe in their products).
Lune + Aster was created and founded by the power couple, Barry and Marla Beck. They originally founded Bluemercury, Inc. in 1999. Bluemercury has been quoted to be a luxury beauty retail chain that provides shoppers with numerous samples of different products for hair, skin, makeup and fragrance. According to the history, Barry and Marla wanted to give shoppers the opportunity to find products that were 100% right for them, rather than buying too much product that may or may have not been effective.
Lune + Aster is a line of vegan products that are infused with enriching vitamins, have no parabens or phthalates, and have not been tested on animals. Two of their products are two of my favorite products for full on coverage.
Lune + Aster CC Cream Broad Spectrum
CC Cream stands for “color correcting” or “complexion correcting.” CC creams provide sun protection and skin-brightening ingredients for uneven, dull skin tones. They provide more coverage than a BB cream and thus the product feels slightly thicker and heavier. CC creams gives you the coverage AND the rich ingredients. Wear after you apply your creams and sunscreen. Although this sunscreen has SPF in it, I also recommend doubling up! We don’t put makeup on the same way we would a sunscreen.
Benefits:
SPF 50
Provides breathable, medium coverage
Creates dewy complexion
Corrects and evens skin’s tone
Covers imperfections
Smooths skin
Hydrating
Ingredients:
Vitamin E (hydrate, repair, protect)
Hyaluronic acid (replenish moisture level and plump your skin)
Sea buckthorn (rejuvenates and protects from environmental stressors)
COLOR CHOICES
Depending on the time of year (although I try to not get color on my face but let’s be honest I love kayaking and paddle boarding I can’t avoid it) I wear medium when I am at my darkest and Golden Light the rest of the year. I even blend the two to get a perfect match at times.

Lune + Aster BB Cream Broad Spectrum
BB was originally short for “blemish balm” and then changed to “beauty balm.” BB creams are lighter than foundation, but heavier than tinted moisturizers. They have a sheer appearance and provide sun protection along with other beneficial ingredients. BB creams are a great option if you need coverage, but don’t want to look like you’ve caked foundation on your face. Wear after you apply your moisturizer and/or primer
Benefits:
SPF 30
Provides light coverage
Correct and evens skin’s tone
Covers imperfections
Smooths skin
Hydrates
Key Ingredients:
Vitamin E (helps to hydrate)
Apple seed extract (helps to hydrate)
Goji Berry (helps inflammation and protects from environmental stressors)
COLOR CHOICE:
I wear color medium in the BB Cream. They have three different options available.
TIPS ON APPLICATION
For days I want a little more coverage I will mix my CC and BB creams together.
The easiest way I have found to apply both the CC cream and BB cream are with my fingertips. Sometimes I will use my damp beauty blender at the end to ensure everything is blended well.
A little goes a long way with both of the products. Less than a pea size amount is sufficient. I have found using too much makes you look oily instead of dewy.
